So it’s 1am friday night and no, no one is out on the town but rather everyone is staying late at the studio to work. Like Jeff said in his latest vlog, things are really coming to an end and it’s really crunch time to finish everything, hence the lack of updates. Instead of vlogging all 5 guys are hard at work putting the finishing touches on all songs. This is the part where pretty much all parts are recorded and the boys go over everything to add all the little details and polish off the song in order to make it really complete. It’s a pretty long process but definately worth it when you hear the results. Speaking of results, i’m going to head back into the control room, where the final notes are being finished on “The End”.
Get it? The end of the end.

Well it might be a national holiday for everyone else, but Simple Plan doesn’t take vacation and is hard at work today too in the Studio. Sebastien got here first and decided that Labor Day was as good as any other day to give you guys the first glimpse at what the guys have been hard at work to finish. The other 4 guys aren’t here yet, so let this be a secret between you and him, got it? Stuey also had a lot on his mind today so he decided to get in on the Vlog action.

It worked! In a matter of just an hour, we got more questions than even possible to answer. Some were great, some were terrible and some were downright just weird. Here are Chuck and Sebastien as they do their best to answer as many questions as they can.

In an effort to bring you some quality content, SimplePlan.com, in conjunction with Sebastien Lefebvre’s great ideas, is going interactive.

“What do you mean?” you’re probably asking… Here’s how this is going to work: Today, Tuesday August 21st the guys are, as always, in the studio. Sebastien did some rhythym’s on a song called “Forever” and now Jeff is working on his parts. Instead of telling you the usual “things are going good”, we’re going to let YOU ask the questions!

That’s right. Send in your questions between 5 and 6 pm EST and by the nights end we’ll choose a couple of good ones and answer them via vlog. Sounds good? Of course it does, it was Sebastien’s idea.

So it’s been a couple of days where things have been a little more chill at the studio. A lot of editing needed to be done so the guys got a little bit of a breather. Plus, last thursday was a day off cause Celine Dion needed the studio for a day. The guys agreed to take the day off, and then Celine cancelled cause she got sick. Sorry Celine, hope you feel better! In the mean time, here’s Sebastien, updating you with the latest.

Hello from the studio, day 16. I’m actually not sure what day it is anymore. The guys have been taking sundays off so if I don’t count sundays it is day 16… with sundays I’m too lazy to count. I guess you guys really cannot be more updated on this studio process than you already are since the guys have been blogging away like crazy. As you’ve probably read, things are moving along quite nicely. It’s 19h33 right now and as I type this the guys are putting the final touches on “Your Love is a Lie”. The song was pretty much finished but they used today to add all the little bells and whistles that really make a track finished: a couple extra back vocals, a small piano part that Pierre just played to add to the song etc. Sounds great. “Time to Say Goodbye” is pretty much done with so after tonight that’s 2 completed songs and 4 more that are getting there, it’s pretty exciting. That’s it for today, our friend Sloppy Don is in town so I’m gonna go entertain him. Tomorrow should be a little more exciting so I’ll try to get you guys a video…

It can get a little confusing when you have a bunch of songs to record, with many parts to each. That’s where the progress board comes in handy. By the time this baby is full of X’s, the record will be coming your way. In the mean time, here’s Chuck and David putting it up and filling in the first completed parts.

No, it’s not already the end of the recording procees, far from it in fact… But that is the name of the latest song that the guys tracked yesterday which brings my count to 3 songs that have drums, bass and guitars completed. We’re gearing up to have Pierre start signing so producer Dave Fortman got a couple of different mics set up to figure out which one would sound best for different songs. It’s quite a process I tell ya, but going well. Also, I know that Jeff is in the process of writting a blog rigth now, so you’ll get to experience things from his perspective… That’s it from the SP Studio for now, more soon.

Guitars are done on the first track and David is now tracking bass for another one, while Chuck and Jeff vlog it up, with an appearance from Seb, check it!
