This has probably been one of the hardest decision we’ve had to make as a band in a long time. In Simple Plan, we’ve always acted as a democracy, but at 5 people it’s a lot easier than the thousands of people that emailed us with their passionate comments.

After taking everything into consideration, things are, funny enough, split very evenly. Some of you that loved the first cover came out and told us how much you still loved it. Others, seeing the new black and white image, immediately expressed how much more they liked it.

When all was said and done, and believe us this decision comes after many arguments back and forth, we chose to go with the black and white cover. As we previously said, we like both of them equally, but the bottom line comes down to this: the original cover we presented brought out a lot of intense negative comments. Those that hated it, reeeally hated it. The new one hasn’t garnered such negative passion. It seems to us that while some of you prefer the color cover, no one hates the black and white one. At the end of the day the music is really what will define this album, not the cover and we can all confidently say that when it comes out, there will be no divide and this whole cover story will be far behind.

We’d like to thank everyone for their overwhelming response to the two covers we presented yesterday. We had told ourselves that we would give you guys 24 hours to share your opinion so we’re going to take down the email link now to take it all in. We received so many emails that we even had to boost up our inbox capacity! Thanks for always being so passionate about our band, it means so much to us.

We definitely have a lot of reading and a lot of discussing to do, but we promise to show you the final cover tomorrow, once we’ve slept on all of this.

It’s funny the way things work themselves out… In putting the final touches on our record, we had a few ideas for our cover and we ended up building two different concepts. We had a band vote and settled on the cover that we presented to you guys a couple days ago. We’ve always been a band that cherishes their fans and your opinion means the world to us, you’ve been with us during our best moments and supported us in tougher times. It’s important to us that not only we like what we put out there, but also that you guys endorse it as well.

Since we’ve revealed our cover we have read every single comment out there, from the good to the bad and it’s clear that you guys are very divided. In the end, it’s a little ironic since we ourselves were divided in making our final choice. To solve the problem, we decided that the final say should come from the people that care about it equally as much as we do, you guys.

Here are both covers that we had made. They are both very different, but we stand behind both of them confidently.

We promised you exclusive stuff, and we deliver. Before anyone else sees it, we wanted to present the new cover to you guys.

It’s has litterally been non stop here in Germany for this first promo trip to promote the new record. Like Pierre was saying yesterday, the guys have been doing interview after interview and photo shoots and acoustic performances. A few lucky contest winners in Köln were even able to assist to a small and intimate acoustic performance where the guys banged out “When I’m Gone” for the first time ever, anywhere.

In a couple of hours, the boys will be boarding yet another plane, this one headed for Paris, to continue this little trek. More news from the city of lights… A bientôt!

The boys are in LA this weekend filming the music video for “When I’m Gone”. Day 1 was yesterday, or night 1 rather as this is a two night shoot- 5pm to 7am last night! It was a little exhausting, but so far everything is looking awesome, so well worth it. At 5pm, no one was too tired, so Sebastien seized the opportunity to vlog about the nights events. Check it out.

Then, a little later in the night, our buddy Perez Hilton dropped by the set to hang out and even got a little cameo in the video. Between shots, Perez filmed a little conversation with the guys and posted it on his YouTube Channel. Well, we were also filming, so here is our version of the Perez conversation.

Night number two starts at 7pm and will be another all nighter so we’ll keep you posted tomorrow, after a little rest.
