This has probably been one of the hardest decision we’ve had to make as a band in a long time. In Simple Plan, we’ve always acted as a democracy, but at 5 people it’s a lot easier than the thousands of people that emailed us with their passionate comments.
After taking everything into consideration, things are, funny enough, split very evenly. Some of you that loved the first cover came out and told us how much you still loved it. Others, seeing the new black and white image, immediately expressed how much more they liked it.
When all was said and done, and believe us this decision comes after many arguments back and forth, we chose to go with the black and white cover. As we previously said, we like both of them equally, but the bottom line comes down to this: the original cover we presented brought out a lot of intense negative comments. Those that hated it, reeeally hated it. The new one hasn’t garnered such negative passion. It seems to us that while some of you prefer the color cover, no one hates the black and white one. At the end of the day the music is really what will define this album, not the cover and we can all confidently say that when it comes out, there will be no divide and this whole cover story will be far behind.

I would have been happy no matter which one you had picked because I think some people put down too much thought into this, plus they were both awesome. And if they had only read the way Pierre interpret that cover, it made it even harder to misinterpret. But then, there will always be idiots out there. However, I just wanna say that I loved everything you said in this… and you are truly amazing guys ’cause you always care, even when it’s not even people who should call themselves fans that have an outburst at you. Bottomline… thank you for always been so awesome! And I hope some people will shut up and end their stupid petitions and focus on the music… or go live on a deserted island alone.

The other one was so different… it was eyecatching, and would’ve stood out from the shelves T_T I know it’s about the music… but… *sigh* I’ll suck it up, don’t worry. In the end, it was your decision to make, you made it and I’ll respect that. ^_^

Well I do like this one, but I admit that you don’t notice the whole band when you look at it. Chuck and Jeff are kinda off to the side and small. Maybe looking up would have helped? O well still a good picture other wise and can’t wait for the CD

But well, I guess what ultimately matters, is the music in the album. seriously? i’m totally happy with your decision. i actually choose the other colored one, but it was like that: “doesn’t REALLY matter, it won’t change the way i think about everything related to this band and both covers are awsome”.
and i’m pretty pretty sure it’ll be blowing mind and amazing as everything you do.
in the first place, in fact, i didn’t like the flames one so much… then, i started liking it better, specially for the meaning you gave to it. THEN, there’s the photography… let’s be honest, the coloured cover photography is way better than the b&w. i’m sorry, thats true, you guys look damn good in both, but my favorite picture is in the coloured cover.
BUT, as you said, i didn’t hate the b&w AT ALL. i loved the background all simple and black and.. well, clear. i loved the picture too, it’s pretty, not the best but totally awsome too. i’m way too satisfied with your choice and i’m gonna support you no matter what may comes. and you’re totally right on making this decision speacially because everyone liked the black and white one, even if they loved or hated the coloured one.

First i liked the first Cover but a lot of my Freinds said it lokks like the US5 Boygroup and i hate this shitty boygroups and i think the new Cover is something othere and also good and it´s cool that you experimenting and try to make new things you just the best Band of the World

Ok je suis vraiment déçu du choix du cover !
Sérieusement, le cover noir et blanc m’attires beaucoup moins.
Aucune expression…Chuck..n’est pas à son meilleur et on en vois que Pierre et DAvid.
Entout es cas, je crois que la premiere idée était la meilleure. Celui-là ne m’attires pas du tout, il ne se démarquera pas des autres. Ça ne frappe pas autant l’oeil.
Guys, pourquoi ne pas avoir gardé votre 1ere idée ??? Je suis vraiment déçue mais bon, il faut faire avec. Je crois que nous n’avons pas tous vu la même chose entre les deux images.
Je crois que cette photo sera un dur combat encore.

I think the fact you guys reconsidered the album cover just because some of the fans didn’t like it shows how appreciative of your fans you actually are.
I love the first album cover with the fire a lot more, but I think I can cope with this one, haha.

I love this cover! And I totally understand how hard it must’ve been to make a decision. But I just wanted to say that I love how you guys put everyone’s opinions on the table before making a final decision. Even if it’s your fans opinions. Not many bands do that, and that is what makes you guys amazing! You always put your fans first and it’s the reason why we will always be behind you guys no matter what. You definitely have an amazing following of fans that will never leave you. =]

those who sounds disappointed dont be! there’s cover 1 and cover 2. they only can choose one of the covers. So it’s quite obvious when they choose one of them it’s going to disappoint at least one person. but then again they’re not perfect! they cant really make everyone happy at the same time, but you guys sure must remember they did put alot of effort to make sure everyone is happy, yeahs ALOT of EFFORT! sp rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =D

we think it would be cool; who doesn’t like the official cover can change it for the other which is in the back!
